Generation ME

Image of Generation Me

(Generation Me by Jean M. Twenge)

I just finished this interesting book. If you were born in the 70's, 80's and 90's, you belong to generation me. Comparing to Baby Boomers, people of generation me care more about themselves. Nothing is more important than making themselves happy and comfortable.

According to the belief, everyone is supposed to be unique and different from others. So teachers and parents keep encouraging these kids. As a result, they might be very confident, even TOO confident. Say, a 22-year-old freshman got employed in a company. And he thinks it is possible to make 70 thousand (US dollar) a year when he is 26.

Also, owing to caring about MYSELF too much, some of generation me have difficulty dealing with relationship and marriage though they seem to be outgoing enough to make friends easily.

Making a living isn't as easy as the years of baby boomers. It's still not easy to make ends meet with two salaries. Consequently, the rate of relying on or overusing drug is getting higher and higher.

This is a very interesting book. And it discussed much more than what I summarized. Have a look and I am sure you'll learn much from it.
